Merry Christmas all!
Here is a picture of what I consider my Christmas Tree.
That tree is last years Sun Dance Tree. She stands adorned from the warrior Sundancers who captured her last summer. I came down off the hill from Hanblec'a, and the next day we went to cut down this tree for The Sun Dance Ceremony. The Tree is representitive of an "enemy" that is captured and brought back to the tribe. There the enemy is adorned and fed and given a position of honor within the tribe.
That day is called "Tree Day". The following morning the Sun Dance begins it's 4 day journey. We all gather around the arbor and the dancers dance around that tree all day for 4 days. NO food or water for the dancers during the dance. We pray for them to have the strength needed to pierce and break away from the tree.
That was back in August. Now it's Christmas time, and I have adopted this beautiful tree as my "Native American Christmas Tree".

Beautiful tree and post. Amen! Love and honesty rises like a tree. Merry Christmas, Barn & One and ALL.

Happy Holidays Barn,
That is a serious Christmas Tree, we just take the garbage bag off our four foot artificial and plug in and wa la the decorating is done for another year. The furnace broke today, of all days, can you believe it. It's hot water heat and the coupler broke Fortunately I keep a spare coupler for such an occasion. Unfortunately we are going to need more than that because it is leaking. I think a bearing assembly, I hope. If it ain't one thing it's another. Peace out

"Boiler Update"
Nothing else needed Barn.
Turns out the coupling for the pump wore out after about six or seven years (about a $12.00 part) In the sixteen years we've been here this will be the third time I've replaced it. The seal between the pump and bearing housing was dry due to lack of oil, when I oiled it, it swelled shut and wala no leak. It was only a couple of drops anyway. The boiler is an oldie but goodie (Bell and Gossette pump) I'm told by an "old boiler man" friend of mine they're a lot better than the new junk they put out today. The bearing housing takes about an ounce of oil (ours was only half full). Let that be a (cheap) lesson to me.
